About Kayla Henley
Kayla Henley has a Certificate in Publishing from the Denver Publishing Institute, as well as a BA in English with a double minor in Italian and Anthropology from the University of Denver. Kayla has been working as a freelance editor since 2018. She has worked across an array of genres, from historical fiction, fantasy, contemporary, and horror to poetry, memoir, self-help, and academic texts. Kayla’s clients span the country and even the globe. Her most prominent project was developmental and copy edits for Dr. Isabella Sarto-Jackson’s The Making and Breaking of Minds: How Social Interactions Shape the Human Mind, published by Vernon Press in 2021. Kayla was also a judge for the Page Turner Awards in 2021 and 2022, evaluating both fiction and nonfiction stories from writers all over the world across numerous genres for the Book Award and Writing Award.
Kayla is particularly passionate about book coaching and developmental editing, where she can apply her skillset of organization and attention to detail to writers’ creativity. In her free time, Kayla loves reading mystery and horror, listening to podcasts, practicing martial arts, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors of Colorado.
